 Things

Well they're saying things are trying to get back to normal, whatever "normal" is....

The schools are going back, people taking holidays even me!  Well hopefully staying with my son and Daughter-in-law soon, that is a holiday to me and I'm happy with that, and the job centre on my back!  Don't get me started on the job centre subject......... I'm like many other ladies didn't get my pension at sixty so now I'm sixty-four, a widow and no pension and hasn't worked since April 2012 I'm expected to go out and find a job...........  Probably like many others in my situation but I think it is totally unfair and think the youngsters who Need jobs I wouldn't want to take a job from them.

I found a charity shop that was taking stuff now, and the lady whom I contacted happily collected sixteen bags and a suitcase.

I'm hopefully seeing my son and daughter-in-law soon and I can give them their Christmas present from last Christmas.
You can read about it here

In one of my many spare moments I trawled through the internet, Instagram in particular.  I spotted this quilt top.  I searched down the pattern and purchased it from here.  It can also be seen here

I am pleased the way it turned out, just working out how to quilt it now.  I haven't quilted the one I showed last week yet as again working out how to quilt it!

Sunday 23 August

Middle of August

Are we all a bit confused as to what day it is?  I certainly am!  It didn't help when the guy who is painting my house turned up yesterday.  He couldn't paint Friday because of the weather.

What has everyone been doing?

I've been sorting fabrics.  I've found fabrics I knew I had but couldn't find and also found fabrics I forgot I had!  Not sure what I was thinking when I purchased the fabric but I must of liked it, liked it a lot at the the time!

I also found this.  I made it when I was doing fairs.  In fact I thought it was one of my unfinished project I could unpick........  I carefully unfolded it but found a complete top of the quilt to be backed and quilted

Sunday 16 August

Two seasons one week

Up until Thursday it was so hot!  Don't get me wrong I don't mind warm or hot weather but by Wednesday and Thursday it was far to hot for me!  I was indoors watching films.  I was unable to knit or stitch.  Woke up on Friday morning to rain.  Much cooler for me any rate!

On Friday morning I took my first foray back into Morrison's.  I did my own shopping.  My friend Jane has been doing it since she came back from Spain in March!  We went at 7am.  I don't mind shopping at that time I function better early morning!

The Crocosmia in my garden is as bright and hot looking as the sun.

Sunday 6th August

This week.............

Its been all go here at Julie's house.

I have scaffolding, a painter and a skip!  I'm having my gutters replaced and house painted, all very exciting!  More about that when it is finished

I've also had a wonderful couple of days with these wonderful people.

I stayed at a Premier Inn for one night.

Weeks before I made the Lisa the Unicorn cushion  A lovely lady contacted me after seeing all my quilts on my instagram.
She asked me if I would make a quilt for her future grandchild. She explained the family live in USA and gave me some clues of the family.
I emailed a few rough pencil sketches to her and between us came up with the final plan.
The stars are machined and hand quilted in place, the rocket I created with a Christmas fabric and other fabrics also machined and hand quilted.
I have to admit I was a bit out of my comfort zone but I thoroughly enjoyed making this quilt and it seems her son and daughter-in-law love it.
